Cognizant has announced a strategic partnership with Cognition, the creator of Devin AI, an autonomous software engineer, to help enterprises leverage AI in software development at scale. Unlike conventional coding assistants that merely suggest code snippets, Devin AI independently handles end-to-end development tasks, including planning, executing, and validating work across complex systems. By combining these capabilities with Cognizant’s operational scale and governance, the partnership aims to deliver AI-driven software development that enterprises can trust.

Through this collaboration, Devin AI, an autonomous engineer capable of executing tasks independently and in parallel, will integrate with Windsurf, Cognition’s agentic development environment. Windsurf supports real-time augmentation for individual engineers, enhancing productivity and accelerating workflows. Cognizant will incorporate these AI capabilities into its delivery models and platforms, including Cognizant Flowsource, a unified full-stack engineering platform. Flowsource is designed to embed generative and agentic AI across critical stages of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), enabling faster application modernization, efficient code migration and refactoring, rigorous testing, and continuous application maintenance.

“AI is fundamentally transforming how software is built. At Cognizant, 30 percent of our code is already generated with AI, and we aim to reach 50 percent in the near future. But achieving this requires more than powerful models or tools,” said Ravi Kumar S., Chief Executive Officer of Cognizant. “As an AI builder, Cognizant bridges the gap between AI infrastructure investments and measurable business outcomes. Our partnership with Cognition combines autonomous and agentic engineering capabilities with enterprise‑grade delivery, governance and scale, helping clients modernize faster and realize real value.”

The partnership is built with enterprise deployment in mind. Cognizant will embed Cognition’s technologies into its engineering practices, delivery frameworks, and platforms, ensuring adoption at scale with the security, governance, and operational rigor required by large organizations. Internally, Cognizant has already leveraged Windsurf in its Vibe Coding initiative, which set a Guinness World Record for the largest online Gen AI hackathon, demonstrating how AI-assisted software development can operate effectively at scale.

“We are excited to partner with Cognizant to bring autonomous software engineering into real enterprise environments,” said Scott Wu, Founder and CEO of Cognition. “Cognizant’s depth in engineering, delivery, and transformation makes them a strong partner for scaling agentic and autonomous AI responsibly. Together, we are enabling organizations to move from assisted development to a new model of software engineering execution powered by AI.”
