Zephr.xyz launched the Zephr Positioning SDK, a breakthrough in precision localization that delivers sub-meter (~50 cm) accuracy and real-time orientation entirely through software. A new agreement with Rx Networks, a leader in global GNSS correction services, extends the SDK’s accuracy and reach worldwide.

Available first for Android developers, the SDK transforms the built-in sensors already present on mobile devices into a professional-grade positioning system – setting the stage for future AI applications to have real-world awareness embedded directly into their code.

“This marks a major advancement in mobile location accuracy, with significant implications for application developers across the spectrum,” said Sean Gorman, PhD, CEO of Zephr. “Our agreement with Rx Networks ensures immediate global access to the corrections needed for high-precision positioning. The Zephr Positioning SDK is a foundational step toward a world where every connected device has precise, privacy-first location awareness built in, which opens the door to AI systems that can reason about movement, context, and the physical world in real time.”

50 cm Location Accuracy for Devices

At the heart of Zephr’s innovation is a breakthrough positioning architecture that continuously refines location accuracy using satellite and inertial data, delivering high-end GNSS correction performance on commodity devices.

By fusing motion sensors and machine learning with GNSS signals, Zephr achieves sub-meter positioning and six-degrees-of-freedom (6DoF) orientation without cameras, LiDAR, or dedicated chips. This delivers near-pinpoint accuracy while preserving user privacy through on-device processing.

In field tests across 210 real-world scenarios – including urban canyons, suburban streets, and open-sky conditions – Zephr achieved up to a 2.6X improvement over standard smartphone GPS.

“Our goal is to make high-precision localization as accessible as an API call,” said Pramukta Rao, PhD, CTO of Zephr. “We’re replacing billion-dollar infrastructure and heavy compute with elegant software that works anywhere, instantly.”

The SDK supports a wide range of applications, including rideshare, delivery and mobility services, handset manufacturing, AR, and defense and emergency response. It also creates a clear path for AI applications that rely on real-time spatial context and secure, on-device localization.

In internal experiments, Zephr has used the Positioning SDK to prototype an AI agent that operates directly on real-world spatial context. Early tests demonstrate how smartphones can generate AI-ready “reality layers” and deliver intuitive, location-aware guidance based on precise position and orientation, without relying on specialized hardware.

Scaling with Rx Networks

Through its new agreement with Rx Networks, Zephr is integrating the company’s high-precision, cloud-based TruePoint GNSS correction service, built on a globally deployed correction infrastructure trusted by leading mobile carriers, chipset makers, and device manufacturers. TruePoint enhances accuracy and reliability while preserving user privacy through Zephr’s on-device processing.

“Rx Networks has spent more than two decades building trusted GNSS correction services, and TruePoint is the latest culmination of that work,” said John Carley, CEO of Rx Networks. “Partnering with Zephr brings this level of precision to a much wider range of devices and next-generation applications.”

Together, Zephr and Rx Networks are enabling high-precision, privacy-first positioning as a software service, making carrier-grade GNSS corrections accessible to developers worldwide without specialized hardware or region-specific infrastructure.
