“2022 has been a standout year for the PHP ecosystem, with teams around the world using PHP to develop and modernize innovative applications,” said Matthew Weier O’Phinney, Product Manager at Zend by Perforce. “We hope that our new survey will help to show that growth, and uncover the trends and technologies that will drive innovation in 2023 and beyond.”
The 2022 PHP Landscape Report, which attracted responses from PHP developers around the world, revealed a shift toward DevOps-based modernization efforts, with 77% of teams planning to use containerization in the near future and 62% planning to use orchestration technologies.

“Our 2022 report found teams turning to containerization and orchestration to modernize their testing and deployment methodologies” continued Matthew Weier O’Phinney. “This year, we redesigned the survey to better understand the results of those efforts and emerging trends that will shape the PHP ecosystem in 2023 and beyond.”
The 2023 PHP Landscape survey will again be raising money for a good cause. For every response to their survey, Zend will be donating $1 to Code2040, a non-profit that works to dismantle the structural barriers that prevent the full participation and leadership of Black and Latinx people in the innovation economy.
