Key Components of Data Center Building Block Solutions (DCBBS)
- AI and Computing Systems
- Supermicro’s DCBBS offers a range of servers equipped with the latest AI and accelerated computing technologies, including high-density, highly efficient and highly scalable systems supporting the latest GPUs and CPUs from NVIDIA, AMD and Intel, in form factors optimized for a variety of workloads.
- We also offer petascale and object storage-compatible servers, and by working extensively with software-defined networking (SDN) partners, we ensure maximum throughput even for heavy AI processing.
- Supermicro’s uniquely designed liquid-cooled cold plate efficiently removes up to 98% of heat from heat-generating elements within each system, significantly improving cooling performance and system stability.
- In -Rack Solution
- Coolant Distribution Manifolds (CDMs) and Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs) are available in multiple configurations, with vertical CDMs being particularly effective in increasing server density. Supermicro’s in-rack CDUs offer up to 250kW of cooling capacity (fluid temperatures up to 45°C) and come standard with redundant power supplies and pumps.
- The Rear Door Heat Exchanger (RDHx) is installed directly behind the server rack to effectively remove heat closer to the heat source, significantly reducing reliance on air conditioning and improving data center energy efficiency.
- Supermicro’s Ethernet switches support link speeds of up to 800GbE and bandwidth of 51.2Tbps, and are optimized for various applications. Partner-managed Ethernet, InfiniBand, and Omni-Path switches are also available to meet customer needs. Power shelves designed to accommodate rack sizes and capable of supplying 33kW of power per rack are also available, along with a Battery Backup Unit (BBU) that provides 33kW of backup power at 48V DC for 90 seconds, enabling application state preservation and significantly reducing the risk of power outages.
- Supermicro offers flexible rack configurations optimized for the latest generation of liquid-cooled servers, and can be built with peripherals including power supplies and BBUs.
- In -Row Solution
- Supermicro’s In-Row CDU can simultaneously connect multiple high-heat-generating liquid-cooled racks and can cool up to 1.8MW of servers, providing stable cooling even in high-density server environments.
- The Liquid-to-Air (L2A) Sidecar is a standalone unit that cools hot water discharged from servers within the data center, eliminating the need for additional external infrastructure modifications. It has a maximum cooling capacity of 200kW and is flexible to deploy.
- Supermicro SuperCluster provides scalable cluster configurations that integrate multiple racks and network fabrics, and these have undergone rigorous validation testing at L11 or L12 levels, allowing companies to smoothly transition from pilot deployments to production environments.

- Infrastructure Solutions
- Supermicro also provides infrastructure equipment such as design, networking, cooling, and power supplies to support the construction of entire data centers. Network switches and cabling are crucial elements of Supermicro’s DCBBS. The company offers total design support, including optimized traffic design and precise integration, cable routing and port mapping design, and cable length optimization, contributing to shortening TTO, reducing material and construction costs, and improving customer experience. Network switching fabrics have become an essential technology for workloads where multiple systems work together to handle complex challenges. Supermicro offers a wide range of switches to meet any application profile, providing high performance, high reliability, and high adaptability.
- To meet the diverse cooling needs of data centers, we offer liquid cooling towers in a variety of configurations, allowing for easy installation and expansion of cooling capacity through parallel connections.
- For areas with limited water resources, we also offer dry coolers, which use the same modular design as liquid-cooled towers to achieve low PUE (power usage efficiency) and low WUE (water usage efficiency), and their insulation-assisted air pre-cooling function ensures efficient heat removal and stable performance even in high-temperature environments.
- Select facilities will have Supermicro generators available, ranging from 500kW to 3,000kW, offering fast start-up, heavy load handling, and seamless power with automatic transfer switches.
- Transformers are flexibly configurable with outputs ranging from 750kVA to 5,000kVA. They provide a low-impedance, robust power supply, and support fast and reliable large-scale deployments with smart monitoring and loop-powered options.
- Management Software
- SuperCloud Composer (SCC) is an integrated solution that enables centralized management of the entire data center lifecycle, including servers, networks, and liquid cooling infrastructure. This software enables management at the rack level and comprehensively manages servers, network devices, PDUs (power distribution units), CDUs (coolant distribution units), liquid cooling towers, and even third-party systems. SCC also provides power management, advanced leak detection, protection, and alert notification functions to safely protect GPUs and cooling infrastructure. It also offers scalability and tuning capabilities that allow management of more than 20,000 hosts from a single portal.
- SuperCloud Automation Center (SCAC) is an enterprise-grade automation platform for data centers and edge infrastructures, managing everything from firmware and OS provisioning to enabling Kubernetes and AI workloads with pre-built automation workflows. It also meets security, scalability, and governance requirements, making it ideal for enterprise-level management.
- The SuperCloud Developer Experience Console (SCDX) provides a self-service provisioning environment for developers, with AI-native workflows and built-in visualizations that enable development teams to go from code to model quickly and securely.
- In addition, SuperCloud Director (SCD) is a multi-tenant AI cloud control platform that enables integrated management of bare metal compute, Ethernet and InfiniBand networks, and multiple storage infrastructures.
- Implementation and deployment services
- As part of DCBBS, Supermicro is now offering Supermicro Global Services, a comprehensive set of professional services including data center design, solution validation, and on-site implementation and deployment.
- The service also includes long-term operational support and a four-hour on-site response option for mission-critical systems, ensuring ongoing support for your business.
- We provide flexible support to meet customer needs, from new construction from scratch to retrofitting from air cooling to liquid cooling. This significantly reduces the lead time required for data center construction, and our integrated total solutions shorten the time to operation and enable higher quality implementation.
Supermicro continues to strengthen its efforts to make the construction and deployment of advanced data centers quick and simple, especially for next-generation data centers that require the adoption of liquid cooling technology, by providing a comprehensive portfolio from a single vendor that achieves both speed and quality in construction.
