NTT DATA and Ericsson have entered into a multi-year strategic partnership aimed at accelerating enterprise adoption of private 5G while unlocking advanced edge AI and physical AI use cases. Through this collaboration, both companies plan to help organizations embed intelligence directly at the edge and drive outcome-focused digital transformation across global operations.
As enterprises increasingly seek to scale AI in real-world environments, they require secure, high-performance connectivity that supports autonomous systems. To address this demand, Ericsson will integrate its Private 5G and Edge platforms with NTT DATA’s full-stack enterprise network services, wireless expertise, IT/OT security capabilities, and managed services. Together, they will deliver industry-ready solutions that enable organizations to deploy private 5G networks confidently and achieve measurable business outcomes at scale.

The partnership will concentrate on four strategic priorities. First, NTT DATA will serve as one of Ericsson’s key global system integration and managed services providers, delivering Private 5G as a fully managed service with consistent architecture, operations, and security worldwide. Second, the companies will embed AI directly into enterprise connectivity by running NTT DATA Edge AI agents on Ericsson’s enterprise Edge platforms, enabling real-time intelligence and autonomous decision-making at the source of data generation.
In addition, both organizations will develop repeatable industry solutions tailored for sectors such as manufacturing, mining, ports, airports, energy, transportation, and smart cities. These ready-to-deploy use cases will help enterprises accelerate implementation while achieving faster return on investment. Finally, a unified global go-to-market strategy will streamline joint sales, marketing, and delivery efforts, giving customers a simplified path to deployment, reduced vendor complexity, and faster time to value.
“Private 5G is the backbone for scaling AI in production, where autonomous systems must operate reliably and at scale, but integration complexity often remains the final hurdle,” said Alejandro Cadenas, Associate Vice-President of Worldwide Telco Research at IDC. “The combined expertise of NTT DATA and Ericsson seamlessly integrates edge AI and physical AI with enhanced connectivity, overcoming operational, scalability and accountability challenges and accelerating the deployment of AI with confidence.”

Industry leaders from both companies emphasized the practical impact of this collaboration. “As enterprises adopt AI at the edge, they need partners who can bring connectivity, intelligence and security together in a way that actually works in production,” said Shahid Ahmed, Global Head of Edge Services, NTT DATA, Inc. “Together with Ericsson, we can deploy these solutions faster, operate them at scale and deliver outcomes. Private 5G gives enterprises the foundation they need to achieve real, measurable impact with edge AI and physical AI deployments.”
“Ericsson has been advancing enterprise connectivity for over a decade. This extends that capability to support edge AI and physical AI at scale across industries,” said Asa Tamsons, Senior Vice President and Head of Business Area Enterprise Wireless Solutions, Ericsson. “By combining our global platforms with NTT DATA’s engineering and managed services, industry expertise and AI-driven operations, enterprises can move from experimentation to always-on, production-grade operations.”
Initially, the partnership will target high-impact industry use cases. In manufacturing, companies can implement automated quality inspection, predictive maintenance, and real-time safety monitoring powered by sensor and vision data. Meanwhile, transportation, ports, and logistics operators can deploy autonomous systems that rely on real-time vehicle and asset data for routing, tracking, and safety. Similarly, energy and mining organizations can strengthen remote and autonomous operations in hazardous environments, while smart cities can enhance traffic management, public safety, and municipal service optimization through intelligent, real-time systems.
Through this alliance, NTT DATA and Ericsson are positioning private 5G as the foundation for scalable, production-grade AI transformation worldwide.
