Kyndryl, a global leader in mission-critical enterprise technology services, has announced a major expansion of its social impact initiatives in India, with a strong focus on building artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities across key segments of society. Through these programs, the company aims to equip students, government officials, and young professionals with future-ready AI knowledge while supporting India’s broader digital transformation goals.
This latest effort reflects Kyndryl’s long-term commitment to developing next-generation talent in the country. Notably, the initiatives align with the company’s US$2.25 billion investment pledge made in August 2025, which underscores its continued focus on strengthening India’s technology ecosystem and national skilling priorities.

To drive inclusive AI learning at scale, Kyndryl has introduced a series of structured programs designed to create real-world impact across education, governance, and rural development.
Strengthening AI Readiness in the Public Sector
As part of the expansion, Kyndryl will help enhance the AI preparedness of government employees by integrating its AI for Governance training programs with the Government of India’s Karmayogi iGOT Platform. Since this platform serves as the central digital learning hub for civil servants, the partnership will allow officials to access curated AI-focused courses more easily.
These learning modules will cover AI basics, responsible AI practices, and cyber safety. Additionally, they are designed to help public sector workers identify practical AI applications while boosting cyber resilience across institutions.
Introducing AI Education in Government Schools
In addition to civil servant training, Kyndryl is also taking steps to introduce foundational AI learning among school students. The company will roll out a pilot initiative starting in Varanasi and Ayodhya, focusing on PM SHRI and Navodaya government schools.
Over the next two years, this program aims to provide age-appropriate AI education to nearly 50,000 students. At the same time, Kyndryl plans to upskill 1,000 teachers across 100 schools, ensuring that educators are prepared to deliver AI learning effectively.

Empowering Youth as Community AI Leaders
Furthermore, Kyndryl is launching a youth-focused initiative to develop AI change-makers across India. By training graduate students, the program will promote AI literacy, encourage problem-solving at the community level, and support adoption of AI-powered solutions in areas such as rural governance, agriculture, and livelihood development.
Over the next three years, the initiative targets enabling 30,000 youth annually across multiple states, helping create sustainable and AI-ready rural ecosystems nationwide.
“Our mission is to support both India’s digital growth and to help unlock progress at every level,” said Lingraju Sawkar, President, Kyndryl India. “By strengthening the AI and cyber readiness of government officials, students and youth, we are helping build a confident, future-ready India that can lead with responsibility, resilience and innovation. Our programs are about empowering people everywhere to participate fully in the country’s digital transformation.”
Kyndryl’s dedication to talent development has also been highlighted in earlier discussions between India’s Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Kyndryl Chairman and CEO Martin Schroeter. These conversations emphasized leveraging AI for government efficiency, expanding opportunities for underserved communities, and accelerating skilling initiatives at scale.
Through continued collaboration and inclusive programs, Kyndryl is actively contributing to India’s national priorities in education, governance modernization, and rural advancement.
