Equinix, Inc. has introduced a new solution designed to simplify how enterprises build and manage artificial intelligence ecosystems. The company unveiled its Distributed AI Hub, powered by Equinix Fabric Intelligence, which provides a unified framework that enables organizations to connect, secure, and streamline their increasingly distributed AI environments.
Through this initiative, Equinix aims to help enterprises manage the growing complexity of AI infrastructure. The Distributed AI Hub acts as a neutral platform where businesses can discover, connect with, and consume services from a wide range of AI infrastructure providers. These include model developers, GPU cloud platforms, data platforms, networking services, security providers, and AI frameworks. Moreover, organizations can access these resources through private, low-latency connections across Equinix’s global network of more than 280 high-performance data centers.

According to International Data Corporation, distributed infrastructure will soon become essential for enterprise AI. “Enterprises are racing to deploy agentic AI but are finding that their existing infrastructure was never designed for the complexities of distributed intelligence,” said Mary Johnston Turner, Research Vice President, Digital Infrastructure Strategies at IDC. “By 2027, IDC expects 80% of enterprises will deploy distributed edge infrastructure to improve the latency and responsiveness of AI applications. Enterprises will need solutions like Equinix’s Distributed AI Hub to enable them to unify these disparate systems.”
As enterprises accelerate AI adoption, they must manage workflows that are inherently distributed. Training data and inference workloads now span public clouds, private data centers, edge locations, and an expanding ecosystem of specialized neocloud providers. However, this fragmented environment often creates operational silos. Consequently, it can slow innovation, complicate governance processes, and make it difficult to run AI workloads close to the data that powers them. These challenges ultimately limit both business outcomes and user experiences.
To address these issues, Equinix has expanded its distributed AI infrastructure strategy with the launch of the Distributed AI Hub. The platform offers enterprises a simpler, more secure, and high-performance way to operate AI workloads across multiple environments.

Importantly, the Distributed AI Hub unifies compute, data, cloud platforms, and ecosystem partners within a vendor-neutral environment. As a result, enterprises can run AI workloads where performance is optimal without rebuilding their architecture or relocating critical data. In addition, the Hub allows organizations to securely connect models, move data, run inference workloads, and manage distributed AI systems under consistent governance and operational control.

Unlike hyperscale AI marketplaces that often prioritize their own ecosystems, the Distributed AI Hub is designed as an open platform. Therefore, enterprises gain the flexibility to assemble their own AI technology stack using best-of-breed providers.
The Hub’s first major integration brings advanced security capabilities through Palo Alto Networks. This collaboration enables customers to implement real-time protection for AI agents and models interacting with external tools and data sources. By combining Equinix’s global AI infrastructure and high-speed private interconnection with Prisma AIRS, enterprises can gain improved visibility and centralized control over AI applications, data flows, and system interactions across multiple environments.
Additionally, Prisma AIRS will be available through Equinix Network Edge. This integration allows organizations to centrally manage AI-driven security services at the digital edge, placing them closer to users, cloud environments, and mission-critical workloads.
Industry experts also view this development as a significant step toward enterprise-scale distributed AI. “The conversation around distributed AI is finally getting real,” said Lloyd Taylor, CTO/CISO, at Alembic. “It’s more than compute and data, it’s controlling where the data lives and how the compute runs. Equinix is framing that problem the right way, by bringing placement, governance, and predictable performance into the same architecture with the Distributed AI Hub.
