Adobe has announced a multi-year strategic partnership with Runway, marking a significant step forward in the evolution of AI-powered video creation. Through this collaboration, Adobe combines its industry-leading creative ecosystem with Runway’s cutting-edge generative video technology to shape the future of professional video workflows. As a result, creators and brands gain access to more powerful, flexible, and scalable tools designed to meet the rapidly growing demands of modern content production.

Under the agreement, Adobe becomes Runway’s preferred API creativity partner. Consequently, Adobe customers will receive early access to Runway’s newest generative video models. Notably, this includes Runway’s Gen-4.5 model, which is now available for a limited time exclusively within Adobe Firefly, the company’s all-in-one creative AI studio, as well as on Runway’s own platform. Additionally, both companies will co-develop new AI-driven innovations that will launch exclusively inside Adobe applications, starting with Firefly.

“As AI transforms video production, pros are turning to Adobe’s creative ecosystem – from Firefly to Premiere to After Effects – to imagine, craft and scale their stories across every screen,” said Ely Greenfield, chief technology officer and senior vice president, digital media, Adobe. “Runway’s generative video innovation combined with Adobe’s trusted pro workflows will help creators and brands expand their creative potential and meet the growing demands of modern content and media production.”

From Runway’s perspective, the partnership significantly expands access to its latest technology. “We’re building AI tools that are redefining creativity, storytelling and entertainment, with Gen-4.5 as the latest example,” said Cristóbal Valenzuela, co-founder and CEO, Runway. “This partnership puts our latest generative video technology in front of more storytellers, inside Adobe’s creative tools that are already the industry standard for many creators around the world.”

Looking ahead, Adobe Firefly customers will consistently be the first to access new Runway models following each release. Starting immediately, users can experiment with Gen-4.5, which offers improved motion quality, stronger prompt adherence, and enhanced visual fidelity. These capabilities allow creators to build complex scenes with realistic physics, expressive characters, and consistent motion across shots. Moreover, users can generate video from text prompts, test multiple creative directions, and then refine their work inside Firefly’s video editor before moving projects into Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and other Creative Cloud applications.

Beyond technology, Adobe and Runway are working closely with independent filmmakers, major studios, agencies, streaming platforms, Fortune 500 brands, and global enterprises. Together, they aim to make generative video a reliable, production-ready component of professional creative workflows.

Importantly, Adobe continues to emphasize a creator-first approach to AI. Firefly allows creators to mix and match models based on each project’s needs, offering access to Adobe’s commercially safe Firefly models alongside partner models from Runway, Black Forest Labs, ElevenLabs, Google, Luma AI, OpenAI, and Topaz Labs. Above all, Adobe reinforces that AI supports human creativity rather than replacing it, ensuring that creator content is never used to train generative AI models regardless of the model chosen.
