NewYork GreenCloud (NYGC) has taken a major step toward redefining sustainable digital infrastructure by acquiring the Buena Vista Biomass Power (BVBP) facility in Ione, California. Through this strategic move, the company plans to transform the site into its first large-scale, carbon-negative AI Factory, combining clean energy innovation with advanced artificial intelligence computing. As demand for AI workloads continues to rise globally, this acquisition signals a decisive shift toward greener, more resilient compute models.
At the core of the redevelopment lies an integrated approach that blends biomass-to-pyrolysis energy systems with behind-the-meter, liquid-cooled AI compute. Instead of relying on traditional grid power, the upgraded facility will generate its own renewable, baseload energy, ensuring consistent performance while sharply reducing environmental impact. This model allows NYGC to address two pressing challenges at once: the soaring energy demands of next-generation AI and the urgent need to decarbonize data-intensive operations.

“The Buena Vista Biomass Power facility is the beginning of a national platform of carbon-negative AI Factories,” said Joe Church, CEO of NewYork GreenCloud. “This facility will let us deliver high-performance compute with a dramatically lower carbon footprint.”
Currently operating as an 18MW biomass power plant, the Buena Vista site will undergo a significant expansion. Once redevelopment is complete, the facility will scale to 41MW, with power directly feeding an on-site AI factory purpose-built to support advanced GPU clusters. This expansion not only increases capacity but also strengthens reliability by delivering renewable energy around the clock an essential requirement for modern AI workloads that cannot afford downtime.
Importantly, the redevelopment effort is being led jointly by NYGC and BucSha Energy, which serves as the project’s biomass-to-pyrolysis engineering partner. By sourcing biomass regionally, the project emphasizes sustainability, local supply chains, and long-term scalability.
