Multiverse, a leading AI upskilling platform, has joined forces with Palantir Technologies Inc., a major provider of AI-powered software, to train NHS staff on the effective use of the NHS Federated Data Platform (FDP). Through this collaboration, both organisations will introduce new, FDP-focused apprenticeship programmes designed to equip healthcare professionals with essential AI and data capabilities. These skills aim to strengthen patient care, streamline operations, and enhance efficiency across the NHS.
The NHS FDP developed and supplied by Palantir integrates crucial data that currently exists in isolated systems. By bringing this information together in one secure environment, the platform enables staff to retrieve insights faster and apply them to improve care delivery. Already, the FDP is active in 77 NHS Trusts, generating operational benefits such as increased surgeries and faster patient discharge. Additionally, 73 more Trusts and 41 Integrated Care Boards have committed to joining the programme, signalling growing demand for data-driven innovation.

Leveraging Multiverse’s expertise in digital skills development, this partnership aims to help NHS employees fully harness the potential of the FDP. As a result, staff will be better prepared to boost operational efficiency, reduce waiting times, and enhance patient outcomes. More importantly, the initiative highlights a strategic shift toward prioritising staff training at the core of digital transformation within healthcare.
“To truly unlock the power of the NHS Federated Data Platform, the NHS needs a workforce that is confident and skilled in using data and AI,” said Euan Blair, Founder & CEO at Multiverse. “This partnership isn’t just about implementing new technology, it’s about investing in the people who will use it every day to make a tangible difference to patient care. We’re proud to be a part of this crucial step in the NHS’s digital evolution, deepening our existing relationship with the NHS.”
Louis Mosley, Executive Vice President, UK and Europe at Palantir, emphasised the FDP’s impact, saying, “The NHS FDP is already improving care for patients while cutting paperwork for doctors and nurses. It has delivered 80,000 additional operations and reduced discharge delays by 15 per cent, while the Government is forecasting that it is on track to deliver £150 million of benefits each year by the end of the decade.
“Now we need to double down to keep driving up the number of NHS staff who are trained on the technology – and this partnership will be central to that.”

Looking ahead, Multiverse and Palantir will work together to roll out comprehensive apprenticeship programmes, with the first cohorts beginning in February 2026. The curriculum will cater to a broad array of NHS roles including analysts, administrators, clinical teams, and managers and will focus heavily on hands-on, real-world learning. This tailored approach will help NHS teams integrate the FDP into their daily workflows more effectively.
By strengthening digital and data literacy across its workforce, the NHS stands to maximise the value of its technology investments. Consequently, it can expect smoother operations, improved resource utilisation, and meaningful improvements in patient care. This partnership marks an important milestone in accelerating the NHS’s digital advancement and unlocking the full power of AI and data for public health.
