Zipline AI, an innovative data platform that’s reshaping the way companies create and launch AI products, has just secured $7 million in seed funding. Wing VC led the round, while Stripe, Box Group, and Exceptional Capital also joined as investors. With this capital, Zipline plans to expand its team and officially bring its platform to market, enabling businesses to speed up AI development cycles and reduce workflow complexity.

Traditionally, building AI applications requires months of intensive work. Teams must create data pipelines, manage serving infrastructure, and integrate observability tools tasks that become more challenging as current infrastructure tools struggle to handle modern AI demands. Zipline addresses this gap by consolidating these processes into one unified platform. Its powerful compute engine helps teams bring products to market faster, all while keeping safety, scalability, and costs in check.

The platform is built on Chronon, an open-source data engine created by Zipline’s co-founders, Varant Zanoyan and Nikhil Simha Raprolu. Both leaders created Chronon while spearheading Airbnb’s AI data platform team. Today, Chronon is co-owned by Airbnb and Stripe and is already being used by major companies like Netflix, Uber, Roku, and OpenAI.

Highlighting the company’s mission, Varant Zanoyan, Co-founder of Zipline AI, explained: “Building AI systems is still a long and complicated process for most companies. We’re tackling that complexity head-on, making it faster and easier for teams to develop and deploy AI products while reducing costs and improving observability and governance.”

Expanding on this vision, Zipline extends Chronon’s proven capabilities into a developer-friendly, enterprise-ready platform.

Chris Zeoli, Partner at Wing VC, emphasized the importance of this technology: “Zipline delivers the core data infrastructure AI teams need to build, deploy, manage, and monitor data pipelines at scale. Built for scale at Airbnb and Stripe, its open-source platform now powers many of the world’s leading AI applications including OpenAI, Netflix, Uber, Roku and many others. AI is driving new product requirements from data engineering infrastructure, and Zipline is a core part of that foundation.”

Organizations already using Chronon are seeing significant benefits. Krishna Chaitanya C., Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Roku, shared: “Chronon has been the ideal feature platform. Its config-based feature engineering and consistent use across training and serving have been game-changers. Since adopting Chronon, we’ve seen a 6x cost reduction and a 3x boost in runtime efficiency.”

Looking ahead, Zipline plans to reveal key partnerships in the coming months. Its open-source foundation continues to gain momentum, attracting enterprises that want to streamline AI and ML workflows at scale while cutting costs and accelerating time-to-market.
