SoundHound AI, Inc., a recognized leader in voice and conversational AI, has announced a strategic collaboration with OpenTable, the global giant in restaurant technology. Together, they are introducing a fully conversational, in-vehicle voice AI reservations agent as part of SoundHound’s expanding in-car voice commerce platform.

With this new integration, SoundHound is transforming how drivers and passengers discover and book dining spots while on the road. Instead of navigating multiple apps or screens, users can now find, choose, and reserve restaurant tables using natural, hands-free voice commands through the car’s infotainment system. Moreover, the system taps into OpenTable’s network of more than 60,000 restaurants worldwide, checks real-time availability, and confirms bookings within seconds making the entire process quicker, safer, and more intuitive for drivers.

To illustrate how seamless the experience is, SoundHound shared an example of a typical interaction:

DRIVER: “I’m meeting a friend in Downtown Las Vegas. Could you recommend a popular upscale restaurant to reserve for dinner?”
AI VOICE AGENT: “Joe Vicari’s Andiamo Italian Steakhouse @ The D Las Vegas fits that description. Reservations are available for 6pm and 7pm. Which time slot would you like to proceed with?”
DRIVER: “Let’s do it at 7 pm.”
AI VOICE AGENT: “Done. Reservation for two at 7:00 PM booked via OpenTable. Confirmation sent to your email. Do you want to navigate there?”

Highlighting the importance of this milestone, Michael Zagorsek, COO of SoundHound AI, stated, “This collaboration marks another milestone in our mission to bring voice-enabled transactions into the vehicle. Integrating OpenTable into our voice commerce platform broadly expands the ways drivers can plan their dining experiences, making them effortless, intuitive, and hands-free.”
