Schoser Talent and Wellness Solutions, a workplace wellness and leadership consulting firm, has introduced Learning AI with Gretchen, a free beginner-focused AI education app. Designed to support digital literacy in rural and underserved communities, the app was created by founder and technology veteran Gretchen Schoser. It comes as a response to the growing need for accessible AI learning resources for individuals who have been left behind in the digital shift.
After witnessing the digital divide in rural New York, Schoser launched the app to help beginners who felt confused, intimidated, or excluded from the AI conversation. Learning AI with Gretchen aims to close the widening gap in digital literacy as artificial intelligence continues to reshape workplaces and daily life. Despite AI’s rapid growth, many communities remain untouched middle and high schools are not teaching AI, senior centers are not addressing it, and rural areas are being completely skipped.

“After more than four decades in technology, I’ve watched the same pattern repeat itself every time something ‘revolutionary’ arrives. The people who need it most get left behind,” said Gretchen Schoser, Founder of Schoser Talent and Wellness Solutions. “I built this app because no one should be left behind, especially now.”
The initiative began when Schoser started teaching free AI classes at her local library in Groton, New York. Living in rural upstate New York, she observed how residents often lack funds for professional development and how AI education simply doesn’t exist in these areas.
“Where I live, people don’t have extra money for training. AI education isn’t offered here. Resources are stretched thin. But curiosity? That’s everywhere,” Schoser explained. “Those first library classes filled immediately with seniors, small business owners, and everyday people who just wanted someone to explain things in plain language.”
The strong response showed that the need extended far beyond her town, confirming the wider demand for accessible AI learning. Consequently, the app was designed specifically for real people, not tech experts. It uses plain language, includes built-in guardrails, and focuses on human-centered learning rather than hype-driven AI promises. Importantly, the app prioritizes safety and trust over speed and capability, offering clear explanations, thoughtful constraints, and a strict policy against data exploitation.
“Most AI tools assume you already know the language, the rules, and the ‘right’ way to ask questions. If you don’t, you’re left feeling behind, or worse, unsafe,” said Schoser. “This app exists to say you’re not behind, you’re not stupid, you’re right on time.”
Both the app and Schoser’s beginner AI classes remain free, ensuring access regardless of income, age, or zip code. Looking ahead, Schoser plans to seek sponsors who share her vision of keeping AI education free for those who need it most.

“The goal isn’t profit. The goal is access,” Schoser stated. “As this work grows, I’ll be seeking sponsors who share this vision, people and organizations who understand that keeping AI education free for those who need it most is an investment in our communities, not a charity case.”
In addition to the app, the program now offers free virtual beginner AI classes for people outside the Finger Lakes area. This initiative enables libraries, community groups, and organizations to access support without facing cost barriers.
As a mental health advocate and podcast co-host, Schoser also brings a trauma-informed approach to technology education. She understands that feeling left behind by technology often creates anxiety, shame, and fear.
“Technology should work for people, not intimidate them,” Schoser said. “This app encourages curiosity, normalizes questions, and removes the shame so many people feel when they think they’re ‘late to the party.”
