Qlik, a global leader in data integration, data quality, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI), announced that it will launch the Qlik Cloud Canada region on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This new development will empower Canadian enterprises and public sector organizations to maintain data sovereignty, improve performance for real-time decision-making, and operationalize AI with greater confidence. By running Qlik Cloud in Canada, businesses can seamlessly move from fragmented data silos to governed insights and AI-driven workflows while meeting residency requirements.

In today’s environment, Canadian organizations face mounting pressure to keep sensitive datasets within national borders and implement strong governance practices. Recognizing this demand, Qlik designed its Canada cloud region to significantly reduce latency for data integration, analytics, and AI workloads. At the same time, the platform supports modern architectures that align with Canada’s data residency expectations. This launch also reinforces Qlik’s long-term investment in the country, complementing its R&D center in Ottawa, a highly skilled workforce, and a thriving partner ecosystem.

Furthermore, Qlik confirmed its plan to pursue the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (CCCS) Medium assessment for the Qlik Cloud Canada region. Once approved, the company will gain the ability to process, transfer, and store information up to the Medium categorization level for Government of Canada departments and agencies, ensuring alignment with ITSG-33 standards.

The new Canada region will enable customers to:

  • Ensure full data residency and sovereignty for regulated and sensitive workloads.
  • Achieve lower latency for AI and analytics applications requiring real-time data.
  • Build governed pipelines that make AI explainable and auditable across teams.
  • Operate within an open AWS ecosystem that supports migrations and hybrid environments.

“Canadian executives are clear. Data sovereignty is a priority, and AI must answer to the business,” said Mike Capone, Chief Executive Officer at Qlik. “Our role is to deliver both. With Qlik’s data and analytics foundations operating in Canada, leaders will turn governed data into accountable decisions at production speed. That combination gives leaders control, performance, and results that stand up to regulators, auditors, and customers.”

The Qlik Cloud Canada region is scheduled to become available in 2026 for customer onboarding. Existing Qlik clients will have the option to migrate from on-premises deployments or other Qlik Cloud regions. At launch, the region will offer Qlik’s core capabilities in data integration, data quality, analytics, and AI, with additional services to roll out over time.

By introducing this new region, Qlik aims to provide Canadian organizations with a secure, high-performing platform that meets both regulatory expectations and modern business demands.
