Paid, the company creating essential infrastructure for the booming AI agent economy, has announced an oversubscribed $21.6 million Seed funding round. Lightspeed Venture Partners led the round, joined by new investor FUSE and existing investor EQT Ventures. This latest funding brings Paid’s total raised capital to $33.3 million. The company plans to use the investment to help AI agent developers from startups to established SaaS firms scale their operations efficiently while monetizing AI agent activities.

Autonomous AI agents are set to transform the global economy, with projections estimating a $19.9 trillion contribution by 2030. These agents are already streamlining complex workflows, replacing entire teams, and delivering outcomes that once required human labor. However, conventional enterprise software pricing models, based on per-seat subscriptions, are not suited for AI agents. Companies relying on these models struggle to measure, price, or capture value from digital workers, and without proper infrastructure, the AI agent revolution risks slowing down.

“We’re witnessing the biggest inflection point in SaaS since the transition from on-premise to cloud,” said Manny Medina, CEO and Founder of Paid. “Companies are turning to AI agents as their path back to sustainable growth, but today’s infrastructure wasn’t built for an agent-first world. The traditional ‘per seat’ model of paying for software doesn’t make sense when the software is eliminating seats. We need an entirely new model. With Paid, we’re building the foundation that will power the AI agent economy and help companies navigate this critical transition.”

Alexander Schmitt, Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners, highlighted the platform’s significance: “The AI era demands a fundamental rethinking of how software creates and captures value. As AI agents become an important form of digital labor, Paid’s infrastructure will be as essential as payment rails were for e-commerce. They’re not just building tools, they’re architecting the economic foundation for the next era of work.”

Paid offers the first complete business system designed specifically for AI agent work. The platform delivers economic infrastructure that traditional systems cannot, including:
