Nokia has officially signed a contract with Extreme Broadband (EBB) and its wholly owned subsidiary, Open DC, to modernize Open DC’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) data centers, enhancing both security and network performance. This partnership not only aligns with Malaysia’s National Cloud Computing Policy but also meets the rigorous demands of banking and financial area, establishing EBB and Open DC as pivotal players in advancing the country’s digital infrastructure.
Under the agreement, Nokia’s IP network solution will interconnect six AI data centers, including CJ1 Cyberjaya, JB1 Menara MSC Cyberport, JB2 Menara Ansar in Johor Bahru, PE1 Menara Suntech, PE2 at Bayan Lepas Industrial Park in Penang, with the upcoming D8-1 project in Kedah. By deploying this advanced network, EBB aims to provide a highly reliable infrastructure with improved security and superior performance. This initiative aligns seamlessly with EBB’s vision of “Innovating Connectivity” and Open DC’s mission to “Develop the Connectivity Hubs at the Most Strategic Locations.”

Furthermore, Nokia and EBB have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on data center solutions and quantum-safe networks (QSN). Together, the companies will develop a joint go-to-market strategy, offering enterprise tenants advanced services such as multi-cloud connectivity, QSN solutions, and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection and mitigation. They will also work together to test and validate the Data Center Gateway, Data Center Fabric with Event-Driven Automation (EDA) tools, and DDoS security measures, ensuring optimal operational efficiency.
