MakeMyTrip, India’s foremost online travel platform, has taken a major leap forward in redefining the digital travel experience by introducing its new GenAI-powered Trip Planning Assistant. This cutting-edge tool empowers users throughout their travel journey from the initial discovery stage to booking, on-trip assistance, and even post-travel support. By providing conversational guidance at every step, the assistant significantly enhances the user experience and makes travel planning seamless and intuitive.

As a significant upgrade to its earlier AI agent Myra, the new GenAI Assistant introduces both voice and text-based interactions, enabling users to plan their travel through natural conversations. Importantly, the assistant breaks language barriers by offering support in both English and Hindi during its beta phase. MakeMyTrip also plans to extend this support to other regional languages based on user feedback, aiming to reach underserved populations across India who may be uncomfortable using English.

Unlike traditional AI tools that stop at travel suggestions, MakeMyTrip’s Myra takes a bold new approach guiding users from inspiration to booking in a single conversational flow. Travellers can now ask open-ended, complex queries such as, “Where can I go in August for a relaxing holiday with my kids?” or “Mujhe Udaipur mein 3-star hotel 3500 ke budget mein chahiye,” and receive real-time, personalized responses backed by availability, pricing, and relevance.

The system is powered by a sophisticated network of specialized AI agents across various categories including flights, hotels, holidays, ground transport, visas, and foreign exchange. Myra also supports multimodal inputs like voice, text, image, and video, allowing users to enjoy dynamic, two-way dialogues and make edits or get assistance even after booking all within a single interface.

During the launch, Rajesh Magow, Co-Founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, emphasized the company’s vision: “Technology should work behind the scenes to solve complex problems while delivering a simple and delightful user experience. With GenAI, we’re enabling natural conversations to turn intent into action. By expanding language support, we aim to bring intelligent travel planning to every corner of Bharat.”

Sanjay Mohan, Group CTO, highlighted the technological achievement, stating, “This GenAI system is one of our most ambitious projects. It’s the first of its kind to function across such a wide range of categories in real time. Our in-house teams have built custom language models, layered with planning and verification systems that function collaboratively in real time.”

Since integrating GenAI into its core in 2023, MakeMyTrip has consistently leveraged AI to address real traveler needs. From features like Fare Lock and Zero Cancellation to predictive tools for train bookings, the company has led with innovation. With the launch of its GenAI Trip Planning Assistant, MakeMyTrip is deepening AI integration across the entire customer journey.

Looking ahead, the platform plans to roll out enhanced semantic search and AI-powered image and video use cases, enabling more abstract, intent-driven interactions. As this AI ecosystem evolves, MakeMyTrip continues to shape the future of travel offering personalized, intelligent, and connected experiences tailored to every traveler’s needs.
