Hunter brings decades of experience in building hyperscale technology infrastructure. Early in his career, he spent more than ten years at Sun Microsystems, contributing during the early rise of networked computing. After that, he joined Amazon, where he played a foundational role in creating AWS’s global data center organization from the ground up. This work helped establish the backbone that supports much of today’s internet infrastructure.
Most recently, Hunter served as Chief Operating Officer at Snap, where he led global teams responsible for scaling operations and growing the platform into a multi-billion-dollar revenue business. Now, with AI infrastructure becoming the next major industrial frontier, his expertise positions Lambda to accelerate its leadership in next-generation compute delivery.
Stephen Balaban, Lambda’s co-founder and CEO, highlighted Hunter’s importance to the company’s future growth, saying, “Jerry was critical to the success of some of the largest data center projects in the world,” and added, “I’m excited to work with Jerry to build the supercomputing infrastructure that powers AI.”
