Enterprises worldwide are rapidly exploring and adopting early versions of agentic AI, marking a major shift in how businesses approach productivity, decision-making, and digital transformation. According to a new research report from Information Services Group (ISG), a global AI-focused technology research and advisory firm, this emerging trend is already reshaping enterprise strategies across industries.
Agentic AI goes far beyond traditional automation by enabling systems to make contextual decisions and collaborate seamlessly across functions. ISG’s 2025 Provider Lens Global Agentic AI Services report reveals that companies are starting to integrate autonomous agents into business workflows to boost productivity and streamline processes. Although experimentation remains more common than full-scale adoption, the momentum is building fast as enterprises redesign their data architectures and governance models to accommodate a growing network of intelligent agents.

“Agentic AI represents a significant step beyond traditional automation, allowing systems to make contextual decisions and collaborate across functions,” said Steve Hall, Chief AI Officer at ISG. “Organizations are assembling the building blocks of autonomous intelligence throughout the enterprise with governance and accountability.”
Currently, most agentic AI projects use simple, model-driven approaches, where agents work toward predefined goals using structured prompts and controlled logic. However, these initiatives are becoming increasingly ambitious. Companies are now deploying agents for auditing, transaction monitoring, and anomaly detection. In software development, agentic AI is improving efficiency by generating code, running tests, and identifying security vulnerabilities. The market is evolving toward multiagent systems, where orchestration frameworks will play a vital role in coordinating collaboration among specialized agents.
ISG highlights data readiness as a crucial enabler for this transformation. Agentic systems thrive on real-time, high-quality data something many legacy infrastructures struggle to deliver. As a result, organizations are modernizing data pipelines to ensure instant access and seamless integration, while strengthening governance to keep autonomous operations within compliance limits.

Workforce readiness also plays a central role in enterprise adoption. As digital agents become integral co-workers, organizations are emphasizing transparency, communication, and skill development to build trust and accountability. They are introducing structured frameworks for human-agent collaboration that align with regulatory and ethical standards.
“Agentic AI will redefine enterprise operating models,” said Gowtham Kumar Sampath, Principal Analyst for ISG Provider Lens Research and lead author of the report. “Organizations that balance innovation with governance and talent development will be best positioned to realize its full potential.”
The ISG report also notes emerging trends such as evolving pricing models, the use of prebuilt accelerators, and domain-specific modules. Among the evaluated companies, Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, DXC Technology, HCLTech, IBM, Infosys, NTT DATA, and TCS were named Leaders. Meanwhile, EXL and Persistent Systems earned recognition as Rising Stars for their strong portfolios and high growth potential.
