Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has announced a strategic collaboration with 2degrees, one of New Zealand’s leading telecommunications and technology providers, to accelerate AI-driven innovation through a purpose-built private AI platform. Built on HPE Private Cloud AI, the new platform is designed to modernize and simplify 2degrees’ technology environment while strengthening data sovereignty, security, and operational agility.
Through this collaboration, 2degrees is developing a unified and flexible private AI environment that keeps critical customer and operational data securely onshore in New Zealand. As a result, the telco aims to improve network reliability, reduce downtime, and optimize overall performance. By combining secure data management with advanced AI-driven analytics in an integrated, on-premise setup, the solution supports scalable innovation without compromising governance or compliance.

At the core of the initiative is HPE Private Cloud AI, co-developed with NVIDIA as part of NVIDIA AI Computing by HPE. This turnkey AI factory architecture enables 2degrees to dynamically allocate compute and storage resources across multiple AI use cases as demand changes, while maintaining full control over its data.
“Using HPE Private Cloud AI, co-developed with NVIDIA as part of NVIDIA AI Computing by HPE, 2degrees will be able to dynamically allocate resources across AI use cases and scale compute and storage as demand evolves – while maintaining full data sovereignty.”
Moreover, the AI factory significantly shortens internal development cycles and supports faster deployment of new services. NVIDIA Enterprise software and AI infrastructure further enhance network performance, making networks more resilient, predictable, and scalable. Consequently, 2degrees can respond more quickly to evolving customer needs and market dynamics while continuously improving its offerings.
“Our collaboration with 2degrees demonstrates what is possible when you combine local expertise with HPE’s world-class innovation,” said Colin Henderson, Managing Director, New Zealand at HPE.
“By deploying HPE’s turnkey AI factory, 2degrees is setting a benchmark for how New Zealand organizations can use AI responsibly accelerating transformation while maintaining full control over their data.”
Importantly, this collaboration reinforces 2degrees’ long-standing commitment to data sovereignty. At a time when organizations worldwide are navigating complex, multi-jurisdictional data regulations, 2degrees is ensuring that all New Zealand customer and operational data remain under local jurisdiction and governance.

“Partnering with HPE allows us to innovate and grow with confidence as we continue our journey to become New Zealand’s leading telco in value, innovation and growth,” said Stephen Kurzeja, Chief Technology and Information Officer at 2degrees. “NVIDIA and HPE’s private AI solution gives us the capability to move faster, unlock deeper insights from our data, and build AI-driven solutions that make our network smarter, more resilient, and responsive to the needs of customers across New Zealand. HPE Private Cloud AI also allows us to safely and securely embed AI across 2degrees as we accelerate real-world multi-agent AI use cases.”
Initially, 2degrees is deploying AI for autonomous network operations, predictive maintenance, and AI-powered capacity planning. These early applications are already delivering measurable benefits across the organization.
“We’ve already seen strong results across multiple areas,” Kurzeja added. “For example, local AI is a critical enabler for AI-driven network operations with multiple local AI agents moving us toward a smarter, more resilient, and increasingly self-driving network that better serves customers across New Zealand.”
Overall, the partnership highlights 2degrees’ vision for New Zealand’s sovereign digital future. By leveraging HPE Private Cloud AI, the company is advancing its digital transformation strategy, strengthening customer experiences, and building secure, locally governed infrastructure that supports long-term innovation and growth.
