Alphabet Inc.’s Google and Oracle Corp. announced on Thursday that their cloud divisions have formed a strategic partnership, enabling Oracle to offer Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence (AI) models through its cloud computing services and business applications.
This collaboration mirrors Oracle’s June agreement with Elon Musk’s xAI and gives businesses as well as software developers the ability to use Google’s AI models and Oracle’s cloud simultaneously. Developers can now leverage Gemini to generate text, video, images, and audio while running workloads on Oracle’s infrastructure. Additionally, enterprises that use Oracle’s applications for corporate finance, human resources, and supply chain planning will be able to access Gemini directly within those apps.

Highlighting the benefits, Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian, who previously served as an Oracle executive, said, “Today, leading enterprises are using Gemini to power AI agents across a range of use cases and industries. Now, Oracle customers can access our leading models from within their Oracle environments, making it even easier for them to begin deploying powerful AI agents that can support developers, streamline data integration tasks, and much more.”
For both companies, the agreement marks a significant advancement in their AI strategies. Google expands the reach of its cloud offerings, positioning itself to attract more corporate clients away from major competitors such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. Meanwhile, Oracle strengthens its commitment to offering a diverse range of AI solutions, giving customers more choice rather than relying solely on its in-house AI technology.

The deal also comes against a backdrop of other notable developments in the companies’ cloud and AI expansion plans. Just a day earlier, Google pledged an additional $9 billion investment into cloud and AI infrastructure over the next two years. This funding will support the construction of a new data center campus in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and the expansion of an existing facility roughly 100 miles away.
In contrast, Oracle recently implemented workforce reductions within its rapidly growing cloud infrastructure division, according to Bloomberg reports citing unnamed sources. While the company has not disclosed the number of job cuts, the move underscores the competitive and evolving nature of the cloud market as tech giants race to strengthen their AI capabilities.
