DeepSig, a pioneer in AI-native wireless communications, has been awarded a grant from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s (NTIA) Public Wireless Innovation Fund. Partnering with Jabil and Airspan, DeepSig will integrate its industry-leading AI-powered spectrum sensing solution, OmniSIG, into production-ready Open Radio Access Network (Open RAN) Radio Units (O-RUs). This advancement will improve efficiency, security and performance in 5G and beyond.

“Spectrum awareness and optimization are essential for advancing U.S. telecommunications competitiveness, performance and security.”

“DeepSig is honored to receive this grant from NTIA, supporting our efforts to shape the future of open and interoperable next-generation RAN sensing,” said DeepSig CEO Jim Shea. “Spectrum awareness and optimization are essential for advancing U.S. telecommunications competitiveness, performance and security.”

By embedding OmniSIG into edge-based RAN infrastructure, the program enables:

  • Dynamic Spectrum Sharing: Citizens Broadband Radio Service proved that 4G/5G can share spectrum with naval radars. New bands sharing with aircraft and vehicles demand real-time sensing.
  • Interference Detection: Rapidly identifies and mitigates jamming, interference or equipment failures.
  • Wireless Security: Proactively detects and addresses threats like jamming and unauthorized access to safeguard networks.
  • Automated Network Operations: Streamlines network deployment and maintenance with optimized spectrum allocation and real-time tuning.
