DCX Liquid Cooling Systems has introduced its second-generation Facility Distribution Unit, the FDU V2AT2, to support the growing shift toward AI-driven data center infrastructure. As AI deployments scale, cooling requirements are evolving, and DCX’s new system aims to meet the demand by enabling 45°C warm-water cooling for NVIDIA’s latest architectures, including NVL72 GB200 / GB300 Blackwell and Vera Rubin.

NVIDIA has emphasized 45°C water supply as a key design requirement for Vera Rubin rack-scale systems, and DCX’s latest FDU is built to align with that direction. The new CDU delivers up to 8.15MW of heat transfer capacity, setting a benchmark for performance while maintaining a record-breaking flow rate that supports warm-water operation. This temperature level can often eliminate the need for chillers on the heat-rejection side, making cooling systems more efficient and cost-effective.

In addition to its heat transfer capability, the FDU V2AT2 includes the industry’s most capable heat exchanger, which further enables heat reuse and chillerless heat rejection. This innovation allows operators to leverage waste heat and reduce reliance on traditional cooling infrastructure.

“As the datacenter industry transitions to AI factories, operators need cooling system that won’t be obsolete in one platform cycle,” said Maciek Szadkowski, CTO at DCX. “The FDU V2AT2 replaces multiple legacy 1.3MW CDUs and enables 45°C supply water operation. This new category of CDUs has minimum thermal loss with AT2 approach temperature, and provides multi-megawatt cooling at the hall level. That opens a clear path to NVIDIA Vera Rubin architecture and beyond while simplifying cooling loop topology and significantly reducing both CAPEX and OPEX of datacenter liquid cooling system.”

DCX highlights that the FDU V2AT2 is purpose-built for 45°C warm-water operation and chillerless heat rejection, a strategy that aligns with NVIDIA’s design goals. By supporting ASHRAE W45 / W+ warm-water classes, the system helps operators shift from refrigeration-centric cooling to a simpler, more scalable warm-water approach. It also maintains tight control to prevent condensation, ensuring safe and stable operation.

Unlike traditional “Row CDUs,” which are designed for small clusters, the FDU V2AT2 targets facility-scale distribution, supporting entire data halls and large-scale AI installations. This makes it ideal for high-density AI server racks that require high flow, high availability, and efficient temperature control.

Key capabilities of FDU V2AT2 include:

  • Industry-leading 8.15MW heat transfer capacity to support hyperscale AI growth
  • 550 m³/h flow rate, enabling 45°C warm-water cooling and chillerless heat rejection
  • 2°C approach temperature for heat reuse and low-cost heat rejection
  • N+1 redundant pump configuration (4 pumps) for high availability
  • Comprehensive water quality control, including inline sensors and water treatment systems

Overall, the FDU V2AT2 represents a major step forward in AI-focused data center cooling, supporting higher efficiency, scalability, and reduced operational costs.
