During the signing ceremony, Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, Morten Bødskov, emphasized the significance of the initiative. He stated: “Gefion is a gamechanger for Danish business. The supercomputer boosts the efficiency of Danish companies and is already an important player in the fight against climate change. Now Siemens Gamesa is leading the way as the first industrial company in Denmark adopting large scale AI. This will allow the company to finely tune its wind turbine development, and it is a major step forward for both Danish manufacturing and our green stronghold.”
Industrial AI Use Cases: Transforming Wind Energy
As the first project under this collaboration, Siemens Gamesa will apply AI and machine learning to optimize large-scale wind energy infrastructure an area essential for boosting industrial efficiency and accelerating the green transition. Leveraging Gefion’s computational power, Siemens Gamesa’s engineering teams will build and train sophisticated AI models capable of:
- Analyzing entire wind farms in minutes rather than days, enabling rapid simulation and optimization of energy output.
- Predicting and reducing energy losses through AI-powered airflow modeling, significantly cutting computation time and opening new avenues for performance optimization.
- Enhancing maintenance and reliability via AI-driven condition monitoring, using real-time and historical operational data to anticipate issues before they escalate.
Collectively, these innovations will contribute to more advanced turbine designs, lower operational costs, and higher overall energy production directly reinforcing Denmark’s clean energy ambitions.
Vinod Philip, Executive Vice President for Wind Power at Siemens Energy, expressed strong support for the initiative. He reiterated: “The European wind industry has been, and continues to be, a leader in technological innovation, and Siemens Gamesa is proud to be among the companies that pioneered this sector… Using Gefion’s state-of-the-art AI capabilities and AI-supported product development will allow us to further realize the potential of wind power. Societies will greatly benefit from this.”

Gefion: Europe’s Leading Sovereign AI Supercomputer
The collaboration will operate entirely on Gefion, a fully Denmark-hosted sovereign AI supercomputer powered by NVIDIA DGX systems and the WEKA high-performance data platform. This setup ensures:
- Ultra-fast training and inference for industrial-scale AI
- Strong data sovereignty and security
- Renewable-energy-powered, energy-efficient operations
Highlighting the broader impact, Nadia Carlsten, CEO of DCAI, noted: “Industrial AI is redefining how the world’s infrastructure is built and operated, and welcoming Siemens Gamesa as a customer reflects how rapidly this transformation is taking place.”
She added that DCAI is committed to delivering the reliability, scale, and long-term vision required for the accelerating energy transition, empowering Siemens Gamesa to push the boundaries of renewable energy innovation.
