Arista Networks, a global leader in cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) networking, has introduced its next-generation R4 Series platforms designed for AI, data center (DC), and routed backbone deployments. This new R4 family empowers enterprises to achieve high performance, lower total cost of ownership (TCO), and greater energy efficiency all while strengthening network security.
With the launch of its 800 Gbps R4 system, Arista is setting a new performance benchmark by introducing 3.2 Tbps HyperPorts. This innovation significantly enhances the capacity of distributed AI workloads, supporting scalable and multiplanar networking for modern enterprise needs.

Highlighting the rapid market growth, Seamus Crehan, president of Crehan Research, stated, “The 800GbE market is growing explosively with port shipments more than tripling sequentially in Q2 ’25, and Arista led in branded market share for both 800GbE as well as overall data center Ethernet switching. These new 800GbE products from Arista are well-timed to capitalize on this segment’s projected 90% five-year average annual growth rate driven by AI, storage, and general compute workloads.”
The R4 series features a robust lineup of fixed and modular routers that deliver scalability and versatility across multiple use cases. Built with Arista’s EOS (Extensible Operating System), these routers support advanced L3 networking features such as EVPN, VXLAN, MPLS, and SR/SRv6 ensuring consistent performance, low latency, and strong packet loss protection during congestion.
Addressing the growing demand for high-speed connectivity in AI centers, Arista’s R4 portfolio delivers unmatched 800 Gbps density options. This enables cloud titans, neocloud providers, enterprises, and service providers to achieve petabit-scale performance across backbone and interconnect architectures.
“When Magnite needed to build our next-generation data center solution for AI and other advanced computing needs, Arista was the clear choice given their high quality offering,” said Tim Smith, SVP Technical Infrastructure Engineering and Operations at Magnite. “We’ve deployed a dense 800G spine using the modular Arista 7800R4 platform with both AI-optimized and high-scale multiservice routing linecards, providing an ideal foundation for the future.”

Security remains a core focus in Arista’s 7800R4 and 7280R4 product families. Each platform integrates Arista’s TunnelSec technology to deliver wirespeed encryption supporting MACsec, IPsec, and VXLANsec on every port simultaneously. This ensures complete data protection across multi-layered network environments.
The 7800R4 modular system raises the bar for flexibility, offering up to 576 ports of 800GbE within a single chassis, while the newly introduced HyperPort delivers 3.2 Tbps per interface cutting AI job completion times by up to 44%. Complementing this, the compact 7280R4 provides a space-efficient, high-performance option for AI/DC spines or backbone routers, maintaining consistency with Arista EOS-based data plane forwarding.
Rounding out the portfolio, Arista also launched the 7020R4 Ethernet leaf switches, engineered for direct server connectivity in AI or DC environments. These switches offer 10GbE and 25GbE options with 100GbE uplinks, all enhanced by TunnelSec encryption for complete cybersecurity assurance.
By combining dense performance, energy efficiency, and advanced security, Arista’s R4 Series marks a significant leap forward in empowering the next generation of AI-driven and cloud-scale data centers.
