Apple Inc. is gearing up for a sweeping artificial intelligence (AI) product rollout designed to refresh its device ecosystem. The tech giant plans to unveil innovations such as a life-like version of Siri, a smart speaker with a display, a new Home OS, and advanced home security solutions. Still, the big question remains has Apple joined the AI race too late?

Despite skepticism stemming from underwhelming past efforts like Siri, Apple Intelligence, and Apple Vision Pro, CEO Tim Cook is resolute. According to Bloomberg, Cook emphasized that Apple “must win in AI” to reclaim its position as an innovation leader.

The company’s upcoming hardware lineup will spotlight a tabletop robot modeled after Siri. Scheduled for release in 2027, this device resembles an iPad on a motorized swiveling arm, enabling it to follow and interact with its owner. It will feature a more advanced, conversational version of Siri that can participate in video calls and act as a personal assistant.

In addition, Apple is preparing a smart home display set to debut by mid-2026 that will serve as a central hub for managing smart home devices. Reports suggest it could include facial recognition for personalized experiences. The company is also developing a range of AI-driven home security products, including a long-lasting battery-powered camera and a smart doorbell capable of recognizing familiar visitors and unlocking automatically.

The revamped Siri will integrate seamlessly across iPhones, iPads, and the new AI-based home devices, featuring a fresh interface and expanded capabilities.

Apple’s broader AI ambitions extend beyond the home. Apple is said to be working on slimmer iPhones, foldable gadgets, smart glasses, and a next-generation headset to build on the Vision Pro. Yet, the immediate priority is strengthening AI integration to compete with industry heavyweights like Meta, Microsoft, Google, OpenAI, Anthropic, and NVIDIA.

Industry experts note the urgency of Apple’s situation. Daniel Ives, an analyst at Wedbush Securities, has suggested that Apple could boost its AI game by either acquiring Perplexity AI or teaming up with Google Gemini.

We have the old Alexa, not an AI-driven Alexa…yet. Home security is well entrenched with even Ring becoming a big player, as well as cable providers, traditional players,” he said. “But no AI yet, and what would AI do for home security? Well, stop telling me indiscriminately anything with motion sets it off and only tell me when someone or something who shouldn’t be there.”

By perfecting AI integration and leveraging its loyal customer base, Apple aims to once again set the standard in emerging technology markets just as it did with smartphones, wearables, and tablets.
